What is it like to attend this early years setting?

This provision meets requirements Children arrive extremely happy and excited about the activities the provision offers. The staff are welcoming, fun and set clear expectations, which children fully understand. Children speak highly of the staff and how much fun they have with them after a day of learning in school.

Staff know their children well by building strong relationships. They make sure they input children's views and ideas during the sessions. When children share their thoughts, they explain that they enjoy the 'my time' activities, where they have their own choice of construction, craft and books.

The staff ensure that they find out what the chil...dren like to do to be able to provide an interesting choice. They use this information to plan for future sessions and ask the children for feedback. Staff consistently interact with the children, which helps support their communication and language development.

Staff are very observant of the children, and change plans to meet their needs seamlessly. When the younger children join in with dodge ball the staff change the game to 'knights and castles', a game where the ball is rolled not thrown, to allow all of the ages to join in. Children listen attentively and follow instructions well.

They confidently respond clearly to questions asked. Children have a strong sense of belonging and their behaviour is exemplary. They are exceptionally kind, friendly and thoughtful.

The children really respect each other and offer praise when needed. When conflicts occur, children work through these together. They develop their confidence and social skills in their interactions with each other.

Children cheer with excitement to get their sport session started. They split into teams and continue to play even when it starts to rain. They show respect for each other as they negotiate whose turn it is in their game.

Children show delight when this occurs and feel valued as part of the team.

What does the early years setting do well and what does it need to do better?

The manager and her team are highly reflective on the service they offer. They seek the views of children, staff and parents.

This informs continuous improvements for children to have opportunities that widen their experiences. For instance, the manager enthusiastically speaks about establishing further creative opportunities for children.Staff encourage children to lead healthy lifestyles.

Qualified coaching staff offer an extensive range of sporting and outdoor activities. This ensures that children have regular opportunities to gain fresh air and exercise. This also promotes their physical health and mental well-being.

The provision offers healthy meal options during their breakfast session. Children who attend state that 'Breakfast is good for your teeth'. They also have opportunities to relax with calming activities before their school day.

Parents speak very highly of the provision and state the care they provide is invaluable. They speak passionately about the relationships their children have with all staff. Parents share that staff's attention to detail for each child is exceptional.

They put children at the heart of everything they do. Parents feel that the communication they receive is amazing. They feel valued when sharing their views and opinions to help improve the provision.

Parents are happy that their children have a stimulating and safe place to play.The manager knows her community well. This includes any issues that could have an impact on the families she serves.

She has recently completed training on alcohol and drug abuse and the impact it has on children. The manager is also very conscious of the deprivation within the surrounding area. She uses this information to support the disadvantaged children that attend the provision.

She builds positive relationships with the hosting school and other professionals. They share valuable information that allows staff to promote best outcomes for children.Children manage their personal hygiene well and support others when needed.

They remind each other about handwashing and why they need to do this, such as washing away the germs. Children know what they should wear for indoor and outdoor activities. Staff encourage children to have a go when they get ready for their mini football session.

Younger children persevere when putting on their sports boots and accept support from the older children when needed, commenting 'You can do this' and 'Well done'. Children support each other's self-esteem and confidence well.The manager and staff are passionate about training.

Regular staff meetings and professional discussions support staff to discuss practice issues. Management run weekly staff training sessions that upskill or refresh their knowledge. Staff feel highly valued and that their personal training needs are being met.

They speak enthusiastically about recent practical training about 'Sensory Processing Disorder'. This training has helped them to reflect on their sessions and make them inclusive for all children.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

The manager and her team are confident and committed to safeguarding children. There is a sharp focus on regular child protection training. They have a secure understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

Staff recognise signs of abuse and understand how to record and refer any concerns. This includes procedures to follow should the children or parents display extreme views. Staff are fully aware of the action to take if they have concerns relating to the conduct of adults in the setting.

Staff recruitment follows a rigorous procedure. An extensive induction programme and ongoing supervisions ensures the suitability of all staff. The premises are secure and staff are well deployed.
